My philosophy of education informs every decision I make as a teacher. It is a living document that has evolved over the years as it has bumped up against practical classroom experience and grown in response to world and local events. But, at its core, it centers my students’ experiences in the art room and pushes me to be my best as an educator.
Carosello Philosophy of Education
I use a combination of art fundamentals, creative exploration, and a culturally responsive art historical context to nourish an excitement for making and thinking critically about art.
I believe that art used in an interdisciplinary context enriches the educational experience and deepens my students’ understanding of academic material.
I see creative expression as a way for my students to process the world around them, engage with big ideas, create complicated systems, and find new and evolving ways to express themselves.
